Good News for Vintage Car Lovers

HYDERABAD: Princess Ezra cut a cake in the shape of the vintage Rolls Royce Silver Ghost as she ushered in the centenary celebrations of the car which has occupied the place of pride at the Chowmahalla Palace since 1912.

Built to suit the specific features as requested by the erstwhile Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, the original body was painted in rich canary yellow with gold mountings and sported gold silk broacade upholstery with lace and silk curtains in the interiors. The car has over the 100 years been used specifically for ceremonial occassions and has clocked only 356 miles so far. Visitors to the event were seen milling around the yellow Rolls Royce which had been placed on the bandstand encapsuled by the four transparent walls of a glass case.

Princess Ezra in her interaction with the press promised to restore the two very rare Napier cars in her collection and hopefully, present it in next year’s Mumbai Motor Show. Maharaja Manvendra Singh of Bharwani in Madhya Pradesh who’s a master vintage car restorer is expected to work on the cars. Princess Ezra's interaction with the media, however, was brief.
